Clone Commandos Are Joining The Battlefront

By Austin Wilson | @BFrontBroadcast

The Clone Commando is coming to Star Wars Battlefront 2!

The Clone Commando was introduced to the Star Wars universe through the Game Star Wars: Republic Commandos, where you play as Boss, the leader of Delta Squad. The game was insanely popular after its launch in 2005 and still is over a decade later. The game has a 9/10 review score on Steam and a 8.8/10 review score on IGN.

The character bio reads "as one of the most elite forces within the Grand Army of the Republic, the Clone Commandos would come to be respected by allies and feared by enemies. With conflict raging across the galaxy, the Republic organized the Commandos into squads who quickly became a pivotal resource in the ongoing war effort against the Separatists."

The Commando is armed with the DC-17m blaster rifle, which carries an anti-armor attachment that fires up to three small grenades that are highly effective against vehicles and shields.

The Commando's Repulsor Blast discharges a short-range shockwave that disorients enemies for a short period of time.

The Commando's Battle Focus creates a a damage protection aura around the Commando and nearby allies. Additionally, any damage the Commando deals to enemies replenishes his base health.
Abilities

Currently there is no information on the Clone Commando Star Cards.

Based on the information provided by the Battlefront roadmap, the Clone Commando is set to come out in September.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 New Battle Droid Skins Are Pretty Hot

Lately in Star Wars Battlefront 2, we've been getting a TON of new skins for the Republic Clone Troopers and it's been pretty dull playing for the separatists if you don't get to play as a droideka, Count Dooku, or General Grievous. Well that's about to change because the B1 Battle Droids are getting awesome new skins!

The red Geonosis skin will be available for free and additional skins will be available for purchase through credits earned in-game or through crystals from the games microtransaction system that was removed prior to the games launch but was reinstated later on.

B1 Pilot

Bridge crews serving aboard the Separatist flagships consist of battle droids responsible for managing fleet's autonomous capital ships and starfighters.

B1 Jungle

When fighting in jungles and dense forest environments, some tacticians apply camouflage to their detachments of battle droids in order to minimize the chances of detection.

B1 Training

Inside the secret cloning facilities on Kamino, cadets spar against droids in simulated battle scenarios.

Each apperance will be available for all B1 classes: Assault, Heavy, Officer, and Specialist.
The B1 Battle Droid skins will arrive later this month on August 28th

New Unit Class Takes the Battlefront By Storm

The new Infiltrator class units were introduced along with the latest game mode Capital Supremacy and they're pretty exciting characters: the Republic ARC Trooper and BX Commando Droid.

ARC Trooper

Advance Recon Commandos are the best of the best in the Grand Army of the Republic and are what every clone trooper aspires to be. ARC Troopers are sent on missions that are often considered too dangerous or even suicidal for most clone troopers.

The ARC Trooper carry a pair of DC-17 blaster pistols which can be fired in rapid succession. The primary pistol can be charged up to fire a Power Blast. Once fired, this ability will deal incredible damage to vehicles and lethal damage to infantry units.

The ARC Trooper carries a variety of gear that gives them the upper-hand in any engagement. Helmet Scanner sending out periodical pulses that reveal enemy positions through walls and smoke.

The ARC Trooper also carries a shock trap, which can be manually triggered device that sticks to all surfaces and, after being manually triggered, will send out a sudden outburst of electricity that will topple enemies in the opposite direction.

BX Commando Droid

Baktoid Combat Automata's finest droid model, The BX Commando Droid is a more advanced model of the B1 battle droid. Unlike their more massed produced counterpart, the BX has tougher armor and has been programmed with improved tactics and situational awareness. These droids prove to be a deadly match even for the Republics finest ARC Troopers.

The BX is a carries an upgraded version of the E-5 blaster rifle used by the mass produced B-1 battle droids which it uses to pick cones off at a distance.

The BX is just as deadly at close quarters as it is at range with the Vibroblade Ability. The commando droid can unsheeth the vibroblade on its back and chain up to three swings, slashing through clones like butter.

Another trick the BX has up its mechanical sleeve is the smoke screen ability. The commando droid can throw a grenade which produces a cloud of smoke that can turn a sticky situation into a tactical advantage.

Unlike the mass produced B-1 battle droid, the BX commando droid has glowing white photoreceptors which turn red when it activates its Scanner Ability, which allows it to see through its smokescreen and make the confused clones easy targets for a head shot from its E-5 blaster or a quick slash from its Vibroblade.

When used in combination, these abilities make the BX a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield.

STAR CARDS For the moment, there are only five star cards for the infiltrator class and no announcement has been made if developers plan to add more.

Capital Supremacy: The Game Mode We've Been Waiting For

Capital Supremacy is a brand new game mode beginning on the open battlefield of a new Geonosis map, Pipeline Junction West, leading up to the close-quarters combat in Republic and Separatist capital ships.

The first phase of the battle will kick off on the ground with twenty players on both sides with an additional twelve AI units fighting for each team. This is the largest ground-based battle phase in Star Wars Battlefront II.

"We wanted to add the additional AI so we could capture the scale of the clone wars while not diminishing your odds of playing iconic heroes." F8RGE writes on the Battlefront forum, "This is similar to how we use AI within the Starfighter Assault to add to the scale and the feeling of heroism as you cut through them."

The objective of this phase is to capture five command posts scattered around the new Geonosis map. The command posts start off as neutral and will change when your faction stays in its capture zone. Command posts can change hands multiple times and this will be a repetitive battle of attack and defend.

Holding the most command posts will grant your faction tickets. When you receive enough tickets, gunships related to your faction will land on the battlefield and you'll have a limited amount of time to get to the gunships that will take you to the second phase of the battle: the enemy capital ship.

Invading the enemy's capital ship is a player only battle. The AI units will remain planet-side while the player units battle it out in the ships above.

When your arrive on the enemy capital ship (either a Republic Venator-class star destroyer or CIS Providence-class cruiser), your team will have to eliminate multiple targets to destroy the ship. The Republics objective is to destroy the cooling vent chambers while the seperatists need to take out the cargo bay and reactor core chambers.

If the timer runs out or if the defenders wipe out enough of the attackers and deplete their reinforcement tickets, the battle returns to the ground phase and both sides must once again battle over the command posts.

Capital Supremacy is a Clone Wars-era exclusive and will, so far, only be available on its Geonosis Pipeline Junction West map. The playable heroes for this mode are also from the Clone Wars-era. Although some of the heroes didn't play a role in neither the first or second Battles of Geonosis, they were still notable figures in during Clone Wars.

Republic:
Jedi Master Yoda
Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi
Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker

Separatist:
Count Dooku
General Grevious
Darth Maul
Bossk

Capital Supremacy launches tomorrow, March 26th, and I can't wait to see you all on the Battlefront.
